Evaluation

My magazine front cover uses some of the forms and conventions of real media products because my cover uses 1 main image only and from previous research, the majority of magazines on the market use only 1 main image. My cover page also contains many coverlines and a masthead at the top of the page. Another thing that my magazine cover follows is that it has an issue number and issue date at the top and a price.
My contents page not only follows some of these codes and conventions but challenges some of these because my contents page doesn't have a larger main image and the images have no relation to any of the content but is more advertising purposes. On the other hand, my contents page does use a column layout.

I used new media technologies, for example photoshop to construct the cover page of my product because photoshop is simple to use and its is easy to layer images and text together and easy to import images into the product. For the contents page, i used quark express because its simple to use and we could set guidelines to follow as contents pages all follow a column layout and this software allows us to create text and images that will fit into these guidelines.

The strengths and weaknesses of the product and new media technologies is that with this, we can change and manipulate images to suit our needs and we can easily layer text over the top of images to make our magazine covers. Another Strength of using new media technologies is that we can produce accurate work quickly. the strengths of my product are that is uses many of the forms and conventions of real media products, which makes my product look like a real magazine. Some of the weaknesses of my product are that my cover doesn't have enough detail on it. My cover needs More coverlines and more information regarding regular and feature content.

To make my product better i could try to keep a consistent colour scheme throughout my cover page and my contents page.
